Características de la atención en salud para los mayores de 60 años en Manizales, 1998

Resumen

A quantitative type research carried out in 1988 by through an
\nindividual survey, in persons over 60 years old, in Manizales, Colombia
\nis presented, with the aim of to characterize health care. The coverage
\nwas identified, the use and knowledge of promotion and prevention,
\ndiagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation services, sex and age. The
\nsampling process was done though random routes, representatives at the
\nlevel of stratum and blocks. The results show that knowledge about the
\navailable services, is greater for persons between 60 and 64 years old;
\nnevertheless, these services are more used by people over 75 years old.
\nThe demand for health activities is very low from people over 60, who
\nare affiliated to the contributive, subsidized regimes. It can be
\nsought that there is a limited offer of services, and little
\npropaganda, or that the older have not become aware of the self-care
\nimportance.
