Resumen

Calathea bantae from Colombia and Amazonian Ecuador and C. multicincta from western Ecuador are described as new. A new combination, Calathea majestica, is made for the commonly cultivated Maranta majestica Linden. All three species belong to the "Ornata group" within Calathea and show polymorphism for the lined pattern type. A key to the species of the "Ornata group" in Ecuador is provided.
