Resumen

This paper examines a set of factor definitions of neuroticism and psychoticism as predictors of physical health. Assertions from the major personality models have been taken into account for the definition of Neuroticism, such as Eysenck’s (EPQ-A, Eysenck and Eysenck, 1975), Cattell’s Adjustment-Anxiety factor (16PF, Cattell, 1972), representing the multi-factor tradition, and the Neuroticism factor from the Big Five theory (e.g., Costa and McCrae NEO-PI, 1985). As for Psychoticism, definitions from EPQ-A and STQ have been considered (Claridge and Broks, 1984). The definition of Physical Health stems from the Health Maladjustment scale of Bell’s Adjustment Questionnaire for Adults (Bell, 1980). A regression model comes out where the Neuroticism factor from NEO-PI is the best predictor of physical health, followed by the Psychoticism factor from the STQ’s STA scale (schizotypal personality), and the Neuroticism factor from EPQ-A
