Neogene basins in the Andes of southern Ecuador: evolution, deformation and regional tectonic implications
Openalex
Resumen
The unconformities, resulting from the compressive deformation event at around 9 to 8 Ma, can be identified in all the Neogene basins sequences of southern Ecuador imply ing a strong regional event. The Middle Miocene coastal sediments are today situated at 1000 to 3000 m above sea level.Widiout taking into account burial of the basin fill series, surface uplift has clearly taken place since Late Miocene, with a mean rate of about 0.2
