Colostethus mystax is a small species charac- terized by the absence of webbing and pale longitudinal stripes on the body; C. shuar is a large species that also lacks webbing but has an oblique lateral stripe that extends to the orbit. Both species are endemic to the Cordillera del C6ndor (Dendrobatidae, Colostethus mystax, C. shuar, Ecuador, Cordillera del C6ndor )
