Bebidas edulcorantes y su riesgo para la salud

Resumen
Although the primary taste sensations are sweet, salty, sour and bitter, the vast majority of people choose foods and beverages with a great sweet taste. From a health point of view, one option to replace these beverages is non-caloric sweeteners which can help in the control of some chronic diseases since the Mexican population has a high consumption of caloric sweetened beverages such as soft drinks, juices and tea with added sugar and non-caloric sweeteners can easily replace the sweet taste of sugar. However, when consuming non-caloric beverages, a proper diet is recommended along with physical activity, because there is no scientific evidence that a perfect sweetener exists. There is currently information about the possible risks and benefits of the use of sugar-substitute sweeteners, however, more scientific research is needed to provide conclusive data about their effectiveness and long-term safety.
