Resumen

The aim of this descriptive transverse study is describing the state of health and the quality of life of a group of 65-year-old elderly living in cities of Galicia and North of Portugal. A group of 630 people took part in this study of the cities of Vigo (Spain) and Braga (Portugal). The most common diseases are similar in both samples, but with different degrees according to the country. The average values of the studied variables are minor in Portugal than in Spain. However, the elderly in Portugal have a more positive perception of their health and they use less their sanitary resources either for being less available or because they have a better self-perception of their health.
