The Igneous Rocks of Southwest Ecuador
Openalex
Resumen
The coast-belt of Ecuador, lying between 1 and 3 degrees south of the Equator, consists of Tertiary formations with which are associated igneous dikes and sills and occasional lava flows. This article deals entirely with the igneous rocks of the region, and an account is presented of the distribution, geological history, and the petrological details of the respective rock types. An attempt has been made to show that a petro-graphic province may occur in this region, and a correlation of the different rocks has been made which indicates that the intrusions bear a constant relation to the Tertiary formations with which they are associated.
