Resumen
At the present time, communication has become an obligatory reference for other disciplines. Its importance rests on its ever increasing incidence in contemporary social processes. It’s possible to attribute its omnipresence to the economic acceleration which drives globalization. Approaches to the study of communicative phenomena have become more complex and are not exclusively concerned with cause and effect. Today sociology and anthropology offer interesting insights for the comprehension of media hegemony. The present essay attempts to suggest some lines of research regarding the representation of identity in the Nuevo Cine Mexicano (“New Mexican Cinema”), as part of the complex network articulated between the media and [social] groups through images, which are practically converted into spaces of social interaction.
