Migración, familia y transnacionalidad en el contexto de la globalización: algunos puntos de reflexión

Resumen

Within the current debate on globalization and transnationality, the article explores the contradictory repercussions of these socio-economic transformations on three aspects of the familial world: its structure, its internal dynamics and its condition of identity. The hypothesis underlying the reflection is that the family constitutes a key axis of social organization in migrants lives, those importance is increased within the transnational context. From the initial strengthening of familial links as a means of dealing with the contingency created by migration to the erosion of the social capital that they represent, as a result of the continuous demand without useful returns, families inserted in transnational circuits experience the complex consequences of the social processes underway in an ambiguous and contradicton y fashion.
