Resumen

The article discusses the importance of sex education through the analysis of two approaches: the “sex health education” model and the “comprehensive sex education” model, highlighting the need to approach it from a the- oretical and epistemological framework based on scientific evidence within the framework of Human Rights. It is emphasized that sexuality education should be based on scientific evidence, be free of prejudice, be based on Human Rights, incorporate the gender perspective, pursue real and effective equality between women and men, be culturally relevant and appropriate to the context, be age appropriate, adapted to the needs and capacities of different groups, and teach skills, knowledge and attitudes that support healthy choices. It is concluded that the most appropriate o del is called “comprehensive sex education”, supported by international organizations and capable of being successfully implemented in educational systems in different countries around the world.
