Migración proximal de catéter de sistema de derivación ventrículo-peritoneal. Informe de cuatro casos

Resumen

Few cases of ventriculo-peritoneal shunt (VPS) and ventriculo-atrial (VAS) up migration have been reported. Present report describes 4 cases of upward migration in 3 patients, one case of complete migration in to the right lateral ventricule. Another case with subdural intracraneal migration of the reservoir through the parietoccipital burr hole. Finally one case with proximal migration in two consecutive ocasions. There are some factors that may favor migration, for example in the four cases here in described a poor fixation of the peritoneal end was documented. Additional considerations on the cause and treatment of each reported case are made.
