Resumen

Africa ha devenido en un nuevo destino de la emigracion externa cubana, principalmente a partir de la decada de los noventa del pasado siglo; desde entonces, el numero de cubanos residentes en esta region ha mostrado un paulatino crecimiento. No obstante, este proceso no ha sido homogeneo en todo el continente, algunos paises como Angola, con un elevado potencial de desarrollo economico y una larga historia de relaciones y vinculos con Cuba, se erigen como los principales centros de recepcion. En este caso, se esta en presencia de una migracion no diferenciada del resto de la emigracion cubana, a partir de sus caracteristicas esenciales, y que se articula sobre la base de las condiciones estructurales de los centros de emision y recepcion implicados, en un contexto historico mundial que presenta rasgos determinados. Este articulo se propuso analizar aquellos elementos que determinan y contextualizan el proceso migratorio cubano hacia Angola, asi como realizar una primera aproximacion a las caracteristicas de este flujo, tarea altamente compleja por la actualidad del fenomeno y la escasez de informacion sobre el mismo. Abstract Africa has become a new destiny for Cuban external migration, mainly since the last century’s 90’s; from then on, the number of Cubans living in this region has shown a gradual increase. Nevertheless, such process has not been homogenous in the entire continent. Some countries like Angola, with a high potential of economic development and a long history of relationship and links with Cuba, stand as the main centers of reception. In this case, such migration is no different than the rest of the Cuban migration in terms of its main characteristics, and it articulates itself on the bases of the structural conditions of the sending and recipient centers involved, in a world historical context that shows certain features. The present paper analyzes those elements which determine and contextualize the Cuban migration process to Angola, it also carries out a first approach of such flow’s characteristics, a highly complex task because of the up-to-dateness of the phenomenon and the lack of information about it.
