Resumen

article identifies some socioeconomic indicators that have a direct impact on population health. These are: Growth rate of the population, Gross Domestic Product, Literacy Rate of Adults, Poverty Line, Classification of population according to economic income, Income Distance measures , Ratio of extremes, Gini coefficient, Concentration Index and Human Development Index. A definition of each is given, and information sources are provided for the procure- ment of necessary data for their construction. These indicators, being constructed from the same sources, sus- tained in time, and with the certainty of the quality of data , allow to establish growth or greater poverty trends, in addition to being able to be compared with the situation of other countries of the region or other regions. The contribution of epidemiology to the knowledge of indicators from the sociological and economical standpoint makes it possible to work with more integrating and reliable information.
