Resumen

Free Software features, along with the benefits of its application in the economic, political and social areas make it an attractive tool for organizations of all kinds, especially for universities. Within this framework, “Migration to Free Software Strategy at the University of Cienfuegos” aims to guide the institution in the process of changing their private computing platforms to new ones based on open source systems. Its main result is a flexible guide, tailored to the “University of Cienfuegos” characteristics and that also takes into ac count this institution’s potential to conduct a successful migration process.
