Resumen

The article focuses on the study entitled "Advantages of ISO 9001-2015 Quality Certification in Health Service Provider Institutions (IPS) in Cauca and Meta, Colombia, 2016-2022". This work was carried out by Sandra Viviana Puerto Cuero and José David Quintero Tabares, students of the Institución Universitaria Antonio José Camacho. The study highlights the importance of quality in healthcare organizations. In Colombia, the Obligatory Health Quality Assurance System (Sistema Obligatorio de Garantía de Calidad en Salud, SOGCS) is essential. It defines a set of standards and procedures to improve the quality of health services. The SOGCS is made up of four main components: the Sistema Único de Habilitación (SUH), the Sistema Único de Acreditación (SUA), the Sistema de Información para la Calidad (SIC) and the Programa de Auditoria para el Mejoramiento de la Calidad (PAMEC). These systems work together to ensure that healthcare organizations meet certain quality standards. However, despite these efforts, there are concerns about whether these systems are sufficient to ensure quality and patient satisfaction. For this reason, the study explores how the implementation of ISO 9001:2015 can offer additional improvements in IPSs in the departments of Cauca and Meta, providing higher quality care and satisfaction for health system users
