LA PROMOCIÓN DE LA SALUD EN EL ÁMBITO ESCOLAR DEL COLEGIO JOSÉ CELESTINO MUTIS

Resumen

La poblacion escolar puede ser impactada sobre su calidad de vida al considerar temas de salud como parte del curriculo o de forma extra curricular, considerando los problemas de salud, la cultura y las fortalezas del contexto. Con el proposito de implementar la estrategia de educacion para la salud en el colegio Jose Celestino Mutis de la ciudad de Medellin, se realizo una investigacion participativa tematica, que partio de reconocer el contexto local, las condiciones socioeconomicas, epidemiologicas y culturales de la comunidad educativa; ademas de los conocimientos y practicas en salud que se promueven alli, para finalmente identificar las unidades tematicas en salud que harian parte del Proyecto Educativo Institucional. En las madres, profesoras y estudiantes, se reconocio la existencia de saberes y practicas en salud, y se da importancia a las relaciones del nino con su contexto. Se confirma el hogar como el espacio primario de socializacion, donde las madres consideran la salud como un instrumento que permite el mejor desarrollo del nino. De igual manera, en el colegio como segundo espacio de socializacion, las madres ponen sus expectativas en la formacion integral de sus ninos lo que es percibido por las profesoras como una responsabilidad delegada de los padres. Para la operativizacion de la educacion para la salud en lo curricular, se encontro como instrumento los Centros de Interes por medio del cual se desarrollaran las Unidades Tematicas en Salud, a partir de una construccion del conocimiento que plantea situaciones de aprendizaje significativo para el nino de acuerdo con su nivel de desarrollo. ABSTRACT. The school population can be impacted on their quality of life, when considering health topics as part of the curriculum or in an extra curricular way when health problems, the culture and the strengths of the context are considered. With the purpose of implementing the educational strategy for health in the Jose Celestino Mutis School in the city of Medellin, a thematic participated study was undertaken, it arose from the acknowledgement of the local context, the socio-economical, epidemiological and cultural conditions of the school’s population; also the knowledge and health practices promoted there; the health thematic units that would make part of the Institutional Educational Project were identified. The knowledge and health practices were recognized in mothers, teachers and students placing special importance on the child and its environment. The home is confirmed as the primary place of socialisation, where mothers consider health as an instrument that allows the best development of the child. In the same manner, the school as the second place of socialization, mothers place their expectations in the comprehensive development of their children which is perceived by teachers as a delegated responsibility from parents. In order for health education to be operative, Centers of Interest were found to be a good instrument with which Health Thematic Units would be developed, parting from the construction of knowledge that presents significant learning situations for the child according to his/her level of development.
