Resumen

In Michoacan, Mexico, there is a long tradition of migration especially taken by the male. This paper addresses the phenomenon of migration, focusing on what happens in women who remain. It will be part of the questioning, if the spouse migration strengthens or not their wives, and in what sense does it. Hence, we analyzed the psychological resources of 100 women, fifty with a migrant husband and fifty with a nonmigrant husband. By the application of individual psychological Resources and Social Resources Scales, it was found significant differences between the two groups. Women with migrant husbands compared to those without migrant husband presented less affective, cognitive and social resources. They had more difficulties in sadness management, more self-reproaches and greater disability to ask for support than women with a non-migrant husband.
