The Retreat from Oil Nationalism in Ecuador, 1976-1983

Resumen

The purpose of this paper is to identify the key factors underlying the
\nchange in the direction of Ecuador's oil policy after 1976 and then to
\nfocus on the failure of successive governments to devise new oil regulations
\nsufficiently attractive to persuade foreign oil companies to return.
