Resumen

The development of the history of Puerto Plata since its founding, ruptures and different migratory processes, especially the one that took place in the 19th century, served as a basis to explain how a different town develops in this space. Using abov all bibliographic resources, it is shown how this population stood out from the rest for its educational and cultural develo- pment, the beauty of the environment and the way in which it knew how to take advantage of the richness of this interaction with the immigrant element to produce an entrepreneurial and cosmopolitan society.
