Humanitarizando la movilidad en México: la migración centroamericana como problema humanitario: (Humanitarizing mobility in Mexico: Central American migration as a humanitarian problem)

Resumen

Este articulo analiza el proceso de humanitarizacion de la migracion centroamericana que cruza y reside en Mexico. Nuestro punto de partida lo constituyen los debates contemporaneos de la antropologia del humanitarismo y su relacion con la migracion como objeto de intervencion. Se propone reflexionar sobre los cambios ocurridos en la region norteamericana y sobre como los actores de la sociedad civil estan construyendo a la migracion centroamericana como problema humanitario. El trabajo de campo en el que se basa este articulo se realizo en 2019 y consistio en la realizacion de entrevistas en profundidad a las principales ONGS que se encargan del trabajo humanitario en el estado de Puebla combinada con la observacion de varios eventos publicos. El analisis muestra que el discurso humanitario se ha ido configurando de manera ambigua al construirse entre la aplicacion de las politicas de seguridad y control migratorio y la atencion humanitaria de la poblacion migrante. This article analyzes the process of humanitarization of Central American migration that crosses and resides in Mexico. Our starting point is the contemporary debates on the anthropology of humanitarianism and its relation to migration as an object of intervention. It aims to reflect on the changes that have occurred in the North American region and on how civil society actors are constructing Central American migration as a humanitarian problem. The fieldwork on which this article is based was carried out in 2019 and consisted of conducting in-depth interviews with the main NGOs that are in charge of humanitarian work in the state of Puebla combined with the observation of various public events. The analysis shows that the humanitarian discourse has been configured in an ambiguous way as it is built between the application of security and migration control policies and the humanitarian attention of the migrant population.
