Resumen

The purpose of this paper is to relate the curriculum of History and Social Sciences with the professional development of teachers. The paper is divided in four topics. First, general characteristics of a curriculum proposal developed by the National Council for the Social Studies are described. Second, relationships between the professional competence and development of teachers are analyzed. Third, the study object of the didactic of Social Sciences field is discussed and fourth, a theoretical model that relates the pre-service development with the teaching practice of specialists is exhibited.
