Resumen

The aim of this study is to analyze the relations between physical and psychological health according to gender and to determine whether these relations change when subjects are paired according to their work status (workers, unemployed or women undertaking unpaid domestic labor). The sample was of 1500 subjects representing the Spanish population and belonging to the three labor categories studied. The findings show that when the groups were only appraised according to gender, the women's self-perceived health was worse than the men's. In contrast, when subjects were paired as a function of their work status, some (a few) gender differences that appeared are maintained, but others disappear, and some differences even emerge
