Resumen
The rapid increase in the migratory flow of the population from Venezuela to Colombia has represented an important challenge for the country, particularly in terms of establishing the distinctive characteristics of those who arrive in the territory. The departments of destination or transit of migrants, such as the Department of Santander, do not escape this reality, therefore, since 2017, the Institute of Political Studies of the Autonomous University of Bucaramanga, has studied the profile of migrants in the region, which has allowed us to approach the conditions in which this population finds itself, in order to understand the migratory phenomenon in the face of the political, economic and social transformations that arise as a result of the Venezuelan diaspora in Santanderean lands. This document compiles the most significant findings of an extensive study entitled Characterization of the migrant population from Venezuela to the Bucaramanga Metropolitan Area, which corresponds to the second phase of the characterization in the four municipalities that make up the Bucaramanga Metropolitan Area (Bucaramanga, Floridablanca , Piedecuesta and Giron).
