Prevalencia de retinopatía diabética en el Centro de Salud de Torrejoncillo (Cáceres)

Epidemiologic transversal study performed in 242 diabetic patients of the Health Center of Torrejoncillo (Caceres), whose goal is to study the prevalence of diabetic retinopathy and its types and to compare the results with those of other studies, 66.1% of the patients were women and 33.9% men; average age of the patients was 63.9 years; 93.4% were diabetic type 2 and 6.6% type 1; 43.4% was being treated with oral antidiabetics and 19.8% with insuline; 50.4% had less than 5 years of diabetes evolution and 17.3% more than 15 years. The prevalence of the diabetic retinopathy was; 23.4%, being the most determining factors the time of diabetes evolution and the treatment with insuline.
