Resumen

Nowadays, in the 21st century, the steady rise of international migration has generated alerts in several nations around the world. A world that provides different ways of migration, and consequently, different causes of it. The focus of this investigation will be on the current irregular migration on the border between Colombia and Panama, mainly the migrant trafficking presented there. In the last four years the flow of migrants entering and leaving Colombia has increased markedly, and most of the migrants leave their home countries with the aim of improving their living conditions, they are vulnerable and needy, therefore tend to fall into human trafficking networks, who promise them an arrival in North America, thus being exposed to dangerous situations such as sexual or physical abuse, labor exploitation, extortion or even reach critical situations such as death due to road conditions, temperature, lack of food/water suffering from dehydration and in some cases the appearance of dangerous animals. In addition, Panama is a country economically stable whose migratory flow is increasing. Also, the limited control of tax and migration generates that illicit activities are more profitable, among these is clearly the illegal trafficking of people, for this public policies with Colombia on irregular migration must be carried out, having a better and more efficient registry of people who cross their borders. In this way, it is analyzed how the irregular migration flows increased or decreased during the period of 2016-2017 of people in Colombia seeking to move clandestinely into Panama. And distinguish the most recurrent nationalities in migrant trafficking.
