Resumen

This study explores the variables that determine the migration of individuals that have graduated college or are pursuing a higher education after college graduation within Ecuador. To analyze these variables, there has been an investigation among different countries around the world, which help to emphasize that those variables that were studied were the ones that promote the migration of people. The brain drain is a very controversial issue worldwide for which this study is very needed and welcomed. Nowadays everyone can realize that the movement of people within a country is something that occurs very often, but as a matter of fact it started many years ago, so the analysis of the history of migration not only in Ecuador but in the rest of the world helps to understand what causes it. With the creation of a model, the variables that actually encourage the movement of people within the country studied can be observed. Some of them are given more weight in the decision-making than others, such as marital status, age, education level and the origin of the person. According to the investigation created from the model, it can calculate the probability of an individual’s decision to migrate depending on their marital status, age, education level and origin. It is very important to emphasize that, although the fit of the logistic model is not completely good, the results help and provide great information so that in this way the government can take policy measures with respect to internal migration in the country. Through the study of the different variables that can affect individuals’ migration within the country, the government can develop policies that help to benefit all citizens and to encourage the movement of people or at the same time to reduce it.
