Resumen

This article aims to build theoretical approaches on the evolution of occupational health in the dynamics of university teaching. The methodology has been documentary. Being relevant the first recorded evidence on occupational health, the contributions of Hippocrates, Pliny and Paracelsus; Bernardino Ramazzini is also recognized as the father of occupational health. Likewise, industrial safety originates from Industrial Revolution, recognizing Herbert Heinrich representative figure of the American school. It is concluded that the work population and health should be seen as a necessity to guarantee the quality of life, which requires research and the generation of evidence for the control decision making in the field of occupational health, where it must That there is a change in the organizational culture as a fundamental tool for productivity and profitability, oriented to action for the benefit of the worker.
