Resumen
Education is perceived as one of the fundamental pillars in the social and economic integration of migrants, in that it facilitates the way in which they integrate or adapt in the host country, expanding their employment opportunities and strengthening social cohesion. The article analyzes the role of education in the process of migrants' inclusion; it is developed on the theoretical basis of Amartya Sen's (1999) capabilities approach, the human capital theory and the social integration theory. A theoretical review and the experiences of some countries with respect to the phenomenon studied are reviewed, which allowed identifying structural, economic and cultural barriers that limit migrants' access to education, and on this basis, strategies are presented to guarantee an inclusive and equitable education. The article concludes that the implementation of inclusive educational policies is necessary to maximize the impact of education on the integration of migrants, ensuring their individual development and, thus, their contribution to the economic growth of the receiving country.
