Resumen

This book defines the transit as a process of international migration. The detections of irregular migrants in urban and rural areas and the increase in detections of migrant smuggling, according to figures from Migración Colombia justified the need to analyze the relationship between the profile of the Migration of Irregular Traffic (MTI) and the actions of the National Police in the municipality of Ipiales-Nariño, based on three specific objectives: (i) describe the migratory profile;(ii) identify the actions of the National Police; and (iii) police practices when respect. To this end, in-depth interviews were applied to 22 migrants found in the Transitory Immigration Chamber (STM), 12 key informants and 21 policemen of different grade and unit. The results view the profile from the context of the transit territory and address institutional strategies. I know concluded that the importance of achieving an institutional articulation to address the migrant population must be from a comprehensive and inclusive approach that transcends the security field.
