Entendiendo el turismo de salud: un análisis sociodemográfico

Resumen

Este artículo tiene como propósito divulgar los resultados de la investigación realizada a personas que realizan actividades relacionadas con el turismo de salud, constituyéndose como sujetos de interés creciente para diferentes países y empresas relacionadas con este sector. En este contexto, se realiza una revisión de literatura científica para identificar las características del turista de salud y diferenciarlo de los que practican otros tipos de turismo. El análisis realizado revela la existencia de segmentos de turistas de salud de acuerdo al nivel de estudios, sexo e ingresos devengados, al tiempo que permite comprender mejor cuáles de estas variables pueden influir en mayor o menor medida en la decisión de participar en este tipo de turismo.Palabras clave: Turismo de bienestar, Turismo de salud, Turismo médico, Variables sociodemográficas, Motivaciones.ABSTRACTThe paper aims to publish the results of research conducted to persons performing activities related to health tourism who constitute subjects of growing interest for different countries and companies involved in the sector. In this context, a review of scientific literature is done in order to identify the characteristics of health tourists and differentiate them from those who practice other types of tourism. The analysis reveals the existence of health tourists segments according to the level of education, gender and income and provides insights about which of these variables contribute to a greater or a lesser extent in the decision of developing this type of tourism.
