Migración en México
Openalex
Resumen
Migration in Mexico is a result of several simultaneous movements: internal immigra-tion from rural regions to the metropolitan areas or from central urban districts to urban peripheries, and emigration of Mexicans in search of work to the United States. The three types of trends now shape the prevailing urban system of Mexico as well as the considerable presence of Mexicans living either on a temporary status or as permanent residents in the United States. The article shows the evolution of each type of migration along the XXth Century, culminating with the recent slowing of migration of central metropolitan districts opposed to the dynamism of the peripheries and the new metropolitan areas; and the accelerated process of migrants to the U.S. due to the lack of jobs and other incentives in some Mexican regions such as infrastructure, services, education and health-care.
