The aim of this study was to evaluate perception of mental health and quality of life in older adults from a colony in Guadalajara, Mexico. With descriptive design, we used a nonrandom sample, consisting of 333 people who met inclusion criteria, admitted consecutive cases validated instruments were used for the Mexican population, quality of life for the WHOQOL-BREF, Cronbach’s alpha of 0.88 and mental health, the General Health Question naire of Goldberg reliability of 0.76. The results in the quality of life dimensions were as follows: Physical Health 87.9%, Environment 85.8%, Social Relations 79.2% and Psychological Health 72.0% in the total score, 60.1% of seniors rated as good quality of life. We identified 41.7% of dissatisfaction and poor quality of life in relation to age (p = 0.05), about their health, 46.8% considered it as fair and 34.2% as good.
