Guayas Ecosystem (GE) is the representative tropical area which covers the Gulf of Guayaquil and related watersheds, highlighting in this environment, the Gulf of Guayaquil, the Guayas River Basin, the Guayas River Estuary and the city of Guayaquil. This ecosystem is home to 45% of the national population, articulates 12 provinces and 88 municipalities. The Gulf of Guayaquil (GG) is the area of drainage of the hydrographic basins. It communicates with the Guayas River estuary across Jambeli and Del Morro channels, east and west of the Puna island. Its depth varies between 20 and 180 m, at the foot of the continental slope is located a mass grave which reaches about 4 000 m. The Guayas River Estuary (ERG) begins on the Puna Island and extends as far as the influence of the tide and salinity, which ends about 100 km within the continent, by rivers and Daule Babahoyo. The Guayas River Basin (GRB) comprises a vast geographical area 34 000 sq km river system that captures the rivers that form Daule, Vinces and Babahoyo. Guayaquil is a city populous of Ecuador, more than economic, industrial and commercial capital. Located in the segment's common ERG and the CRG, incorporates a variety of issues relating to natural resources, environment, science, arts, engineering and technology, which gives it an unparalleled advantage of structural and cyclical side to revise this site environmental issues and sustainability.
