Method. A sample of 94 Venezuelan women on their first trimester \nof pregnancy completed questionnaires on emotional style, emotional sensitivity, coping, perceived health \nand quality of life. Results. Having a negative emotional style and using dysfunctional ways of coping during \npregnancy predict a higher deterioration of the perceived health status and the quality of life of these women along their first term of pregnancy. Other coping styles such as positive interpretation act as a protective factor \nfor the health status of this group. Conclusion.
