Resumen

Introduction: Diabetes mellitus is a public health problem that causes biopsychosocial affections in individuals who suffer it, leading to the need to assess aspects that may affect its compensation such as self-efficacy and user satisfaction. Materials and methods: a correlational quantitative research was developed that took as reference the Model Health Promotion, and that included by simple random sampling to 86 individuals with diabetes mellitus type 2,in those who have been able to establish their profile, perception of self-efficacy and user satisfaction through the instrument for the evaluation of self-efficacy in diabetes type 2(Cronbach's alpha of 0,85) and the PACIC (Patient Assessment of Chronic Illness Care) (Cronbach's alpha of 0,88). Results: The majority of users are women (65%),in the middle adult stage (65,1%), that are perceived as self-effective (82,6%)and show satisfaction with the service offered (76,7%),presenting metabolic decompensation (57%).It was observed an association between self-efficacy and age group (p = 0,002), having a partner (p = 0,029), glycosylated hemoglobin (p = 0,007)and the cognitive status of older adults (p = 0.017),as well as between satisfaction and the age group (p = 0,033),sex (<0,001), and employment status (p = 0,005). Discussion: the establish profile coincides with the one reported in other publications. Self-efficacy and user satisfaction are aspects that are related with the compensation of users. Conclusions: It is necessary to enhance aspects such as self-efficacy and user satisfaction, with the application of the Health Promotion Model being relevant.
