Resumen
The purpose of this paper is to describe significant historical experiences of humanitarian Social Work from Mexico, facing complex situations of forced migration caused by violence; specifically, with refugees. It opens with the legitimacy of the topic among the global networks of Social Work (IFSW-IASSW); central concepts are distinguished and synthesized the statistical profile of the issue in Latin America. Then three experiences are exposed: the arrival to Mexico of refugee children from the Spanish Civil War, in the 1930s; the social and diplomatic support networks for the Spanish and anti-fascist exiles during the Second World War; and, finally, the case of the massive Central American exodus during the 80s. The prominence and evolution of different aid networks with the participation of social workers was confirmed in this first chapter, and its contribution to the humanitarian intervention models.
