Resumen

Since the last two decades of the 20th century, Mexican migrant communities in the United States have undergone a transformation process influenced by their organizational efforts, both to maintain ties with their communities of origin, strengthened through economic cooperation with national and local governments in Mexico and to consolidate their presence in the U.S. through public demonstrations. This organizational dynamic has been expressed openly at different times throughout the present century. The efforts to preserve ethnic identity and support communities of origin operated through programs known as “four, three and two for one,” which provided funding for community improvements. However, these programs ceased in 2018 following changes in Mexican government policies. At the same time, the organization of Mexicans in the United States has consolidated in response to reforms and racist policies promoted by the U.S. government. For this study, specialists, databases, and virtual sources were consulted.
