Resumen

Tourism is one of the main economic drivers in the world; however, it can transform natural environments with consequences for endangered species. There are few reviews related to the topic and there are no studies that cover a literary review and bibliometric analysis of the intellectual structure in the relationship between tourism and endangered species. The methodology followed here took the available productions in Web ‑of ‑Science and Scopus, some 298 documents, and performed a scientific mapping and literary narrative based on the Tree of Science algorithm. From the narrative analysis, three preponderant thematic areas stand out: effects and impacts of tourism on endangered species; perception of tourism impacts and responsible conservation. The article has implications for different stakeholders in the sector interested in the subject and may shape prevention of negative impacts and efficient use of positive ones.
