Los caminos de la ciencia. El desarrollo inicial de las Ciencias Agronómicas y Veterinarias en Argentina, 1860-1910

Resumen

The article reconstructs the organizational initiatives of the first state and private apparatus for agricultural and livestock diffusion and experimentation, as well as those initiatives that enabled the creation of higher education in Agronomic and Veterinarian Sciences in Argentina, from 1860 to 1910. The initial development of state bureaucracy concerned with agrarian matters as well as the organization of education and agrarian research was a constituent element in the processes of construction of the state and of capitalist modernization of the country from the moment of its incorporation into the world’s market during the second half of the nineteenth century. The analytic perspective developed in this article also shows the introduction of these disciplines as one way of understanding scientific organization in Argentina.
