Resumen
The study of transnational families has received special attention in the literature on migration. Many of the works carried out have shown the family as a social construction, as well as the ability of this construction to adapt to different situations. However, there is little research focusing on the role that structural factors, such as social relations of production or legislative context, have in the emergence of transnational families. This paper presents some aspects that are negotiated (and are sometimes a cause of conflict) within transnational families around migratory projects and familiar reunification, using a case study from Ecuadorian migration.
