Resumen

The health tourism sector is constantly evolving around the world, and Colombia is also joining this trend. In recent years, there has been a significant increase in the number of international tourists visiting Colombia and the southwestern region of the country for medical treatments and wellness therapies. In addition, this region has a rich cultural and natural offer, which makes it a very attractive tourist destination for visitors from all over the world. The region includes the provinces of Valle del Cauca, Cauca and Nariño. Objective: to identify the strategies developed in the health tourism sector in the southwest of Colombia in the years 2015 to 2019. Methodology: qualitative research approach of descriptive type, with interpretative-hermeneutic method, which allowed us to collect secondary data to answer our problem question. Result: Colombia has experienced a remarkable growth in the health tourism market in Latin America and has the second largest market in the region in terms of revenue. Conclusion: Tourism is considered as one of the economic sectors with a high capacity to boost the development and economic growth of a region, since it has been shown that in tourist places a greater agglomeration of companies and diverse economic activities are developed
