Predictores del interés por la prevención de algunos trastornos de salud

This work proposes and evaluates a model for the prediction of the interest for prevention about six health problems. The model integrates factors considered relevant in previous studies (beliefs, emotions and attitudes) as well as a new variable consisting of the subjects own belief in the time lapse before a specific disorder declares itself, in the case of the non-use of any type of prevention. The model breaks into three submodels with the object of determining which factors influence significantly the perception of risk, the worry and interest for prevention. The results show that the model is sufficiently useful to explain the worry and interest for prevention with respect to the majority of the disorders examined (R2 maximums of 0.525 and 0.294 respectively) and that the belief about the delay is a significantly influential factor on both dependent variables
