Resumen

Migration represents today one of the most challenging social realities for all governments, it has even been recognized as a growing phenomenon, with implications of humanitarian crises (WHO, 2023); where the displacement of human populations has been increasing. For the migrant in his journey, it has resulted in precarious and high-risk situations, where he is exposed to organized crime, trafficking in persons, violation of his human rights, extortion, outbreaks of racism and discrimination, as well as a deficit of health care and education, among various situations of risk and vulnerability, that can expose you even to death. In this sense, the purpose of this text is to situate the reflection on the approaches of intervention of the migratory phenomenon, from Social Work, highlighting the main competences and strengths that this professional must possess within the framework of their areas of interference. Concluding that a professional is required to respond to complex scenarios, from a solid theoretical and metatheoretical scaffolding; as well as the mastery of intervention models focused on attention to the migrant population in its different distinctive characteristics at the individual, family, social and context levels
