Resumen

The Zika virus is an rna mosquito-borne virus, it was isolated for the first time in 1947 in the forests of Zika, Uganda. The clinical picture is characterized by rash, headache and fever, sometimes there is a joint involvement as well as the presence of other complications. The Zika virus is currently widespread in most of the American continent countries, including Mexico. Due to the clinical impact the virus has, at a population level, the present work includes four issues of epidemiological importance such as: clinical picture, diagnosis, complications and treatment and prevention.
