Resumen

The cultivation of maize is of great importance in the Municipality of Hecelchakan, Campeche, due to its planted area, obtained yield and the quantity of corn production. The municipality contributed with 51.20% of the planted area and generated 63.50% of corn production in irrigation district (DDR) of Hecelchakan in 2008. In this context, this research was focused in analysis of technologies, cost structure, competitiveness of production of the crop. Production costs of regional and mennonite producers were $6,759.31 and $5,679.21, respectively. The biggest part of production costs was invested in fertilizers, seeds, rent of machinery and rent of land. Regional producers are not competitive without subsidies but they are competitive with subsidies; whereas mennonites producers are competitive with and without subsidies. Regional producers are not efficient and profitable and mennonites producers are efficient and profitable.
