Resumen

The study is based on the situation existing in Chile up to 1973, characterised by the existence side by side of three systems of land ownership and production. The first relies on capitalist methods of production and use of labour, and is based on the fundo or farm as the unit. The second works within the market economy, but on a cooperative basis with the output shared amongst the workers themselves, the basic unit of the system being the asentamiento. The third systems differs from the second in so far as part of the output is expropnated for social purposes, and is made up of centros de reforma agraria.
