Resumen

This project pretends to provide to the development of a new payment method in Ecuador, which will make transactions and paying services through operator’s mobile networks in Ecuador easier. This service is based on the use of short codes, which allows transferring balances between cell phones; while the app could easily be stored in a cell phone’s memory. The project proposes a first stage in which the application works on 3G or HSPA platforms, and allows the users to make payments for products and services. This project includes a feasibility analysis; the evaluation of different variables and factors that will influence the massive expansion of this service, factors that will affect the success of the app in the market, and a review of the regulatory framework, that ends with a proposal related to the implementation of payment through cell phones for Ecuador.
