Resumen
This essay is a contextualization of the reissue of the text published in 1985. “A study of sociocultural change among Gomera emigrants in Taco, Tenerife”, the result of an inves- tigation carried out by a group of researchers at the Ethnicity and Nationalism Seminar associated with the University of La Laguna. The study, focused on the field of anthropology, was intended to highlight the cultural dynamics that were set in motion with the Gomera migration and its imprint on the configuration of the Taco neighborhood. Considering its capacity for analysis and its original theme, which addresses topics such as representation, marginal stereotyping and jokes, in addition to the structural factors of the formation of the population in the area, we emphasize the need to make the text appear as a precedent for anthropological studies, to think about the new urban landscape in a Canary Islands marked by new sociocultural coordinates
