Geology of Southwest Ecuador

Resumen
ABSTRACT The general geology of southwest Ecuador is described. The area is approximately 140 miles north and south, and 90 miles east and west, lying south of Manta and northwest of Guayaquil and the mouth of Rio Daule. The formations include Tertiary sediments and igneous intrusions. The writer attempts particularly a study of the geology north and east of the Cordilleras de Colonche and a correlation of these formations with those farther south. Observations of structural and depositional conditions are presented. The paper is illustrated by a map of the areal geology, columnar and cross sections, and microscopic slides.
